How to Convince Your Boss You Should Be at Conversion Conference 2012

While we wish we could say that convincing your boss you should be at Conversion Conference is the easiest thing on earth to do, we all know that’s simply not true most of the time. Except for those rare occasions when your boss him/herself has been to the conference and was impressed (or, if you’re lucky, he/she is speaking at the event), then you must have a pretty solid justification why the conference is worth spending a dime of the company’s money on.

Yes, we all know that the moment you say Conversion Conference in San Francisco, your boss/es will be mentally calculating the costs (conference pass + meals + transportation expenses…). So what do you do when, like most folks in the internet marketing community, you are raring to go but your boss doesn’t seem to be as thrilled as you are?

You use all your charm and powers of persuasion, of course!

And to complement your natural persuasive talents, here are a few pointers that worked for our previous attendees:

  1. Emphasize value for money – Tell your boss you will milk the conference for all it’s worth by attending as many sessions as you can, especially those that tie in with company priorities and projects.
  2. Generate savings – Come up with a plan to help the company save as much on conference passes, transportation, and meals. For instance, you can ask about group rates if more people will be attending the conference. Take advantage of early-bird registrations/ advance pricing to save on your pass. Book flights early as advance bookings are often cheaper. You could even convince the company to take part in the Conversion Conference’s partner/affiliate program so you can literally earn yourself a conference pass (if you’re interested in this, check out the Conversion Conference affiliate program)
  3. Highlight networking opportunities – Let your boss/es know that Conversion Conference presents a unique opportunity for you and your company to know and be known by folks who will be able to help your company. Let your excitement about the presence of superstars and industry leaders rub off on them by telling them who will be there and your interaction with these people can help the company succeed.

Here’s a bonus: We’ve prepared a conversion conference west 2012 proposal letter that you can readily customize according to your circumstances (and your boss/es’ soft spots). After you’ve buttered up your boss/es on the benefits of Conversion Conference 2012, it’s only a matter of downloading the letter, filling it up, and sending it to them.

Now cross your fingers and hope for the best!
