A mind-blowing two days

Conversion Conference has built a reputation for bringing toget
her thought leaders in the conversion optimization space, and this year’s SF show did not disappoint. Speakers captivated the audience by enthusiastically sharing their knowledge in testing, persuasive copy, conversion design, strategy, social media conversions and a host of tips and techniques for turning visitors into buyers. Attendees learned even outside of breakout sessions, what with speakers hosting informal discussions during lunch time.

Keynote speakers Tim Ash, Charles Nicholls, and Richard Banfield put on impressive presentations that encouraged attendees to give human biology and behavior precedence over technology. For instance, Tim Ash told attendees to “take technology and apply it to the human being.” Charles Nicholls also broke pervasive assumptions about purchase behaviors by showing the surprising ways (and places) your users are interacting with websites.

Richard Banfield took Tim’s message on neuro web design to a higher level by rejecting the concept of mobile as technology. Instead, Richard claims that “mobile is a state of being,” which emphasizes the importance of creating experiences that are congruent with human intent.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane – no, It’s a mini-helicopter!

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Conversion Conference without the fun times – and that’s exactly what our sponsors at Optimizely, Usertesting, LeadConverter, ExactTarget, InBenta, Neustar, and Traitwise set out to accomplish. Conference attendees were excited by these flying mini- helicopters from Optimizely and the chance to own a Chromebook from a Usertesting raffle. They also had a chance to let their hair down and bond with colleagues during the ConvCon party hosted by Optimizely.

All in all, the San Fran show was a promising start for the event series, reflective of how the industry is growing by leaps and bounds as more marketers realize the need to put conversions at the top of their priorities. So if you’re one of those marketers, we’ll see you at Conversion Conference in Chicago this summer 🙂
